So I want to apologize to anyone who has been dealing with my livejournal theme changing merry-go-round. I've been trying to find a theme that's not only easy on the eyes but less graphic heavy, mostly because my eyes just aren't doing too well lately and I'll be damned if I'm going to go through code to fix any kind of glitch that might pop up.

Also, am I the only one noticing how all livejournal theme creators just absolutely love to have the font be teeny tiny? Buddy, I'm half blind as it is, I don't need to be squinting my ass off to see what the hell I wrote. I've only just managed to get the font for this theme bigger (my god my coding is rusty; I've forgotten every web savvy trick I learned, srsly!). Undoubtedly I'll get fussed at by someone saying my font is too big but you know what? I don't care. My eyes hurt. You don't like that I need the font at 12/14 instead of ant sized then take me off your friend roll or whatever.

Anyway. To cheer myself up I decided to break out my paint shop pro 9 (woohoo!) and do a graphic. I had intended to do some icons  - just some random stock images made pretty - but then stumbled upon Misha Collins website (the actor who plays Castiel in Supernatural and has a sexy voice - seriously buddy, I'll never meet you but I love your voice!) and decided to go for broke and make a Castiel graphic.

30+ layers later (no lie!) and with my thanks to:
Misha Collin's gallery
soacdesigns (mid-layer)
EM (mid-layer)
urban dirty.com (bottom layer)
a google search of orion's belt
texturize's delicious resources

You get the following!:

Clicky-click for full image.

Also, seriously, if you use this without permission or claim it as your own? I'll kill you. No lie. That *points* That right there *points harder* was an absolute bitch to do and I'm still not happy with it.

Ironically, however, the hardest part to do was his eyes! Because, seriously, Misha's eyes are NOT that cool. I google searched for a random constellation - Orion's Belt - and used two of the three stars making up said belt for his eyes. If you were to look at the original layer (which I have saved for future use) and zoom about three or four times, you would actually be able to make out the various colorations around the stars as well as other stars in the background. Very cool.

Another thing that took an inordinantly long time to do? Figure out what the text should be. My original text idea was:

I have been to the end of the earth,
I have been to the end of the sky,
I have been to the end of the mountains,
I have found none that are not my friends.
- American Idian Proverb; Navajo

The above quote I've always loved and thought it would be strangely appropriate for Castiel. In the end, however, I settled for the above. Mostly because 'perdition' is one of my favorite words and Misha sold that line utterly and completely. One of those epic moments of Supernatural history, in my opinion.

Anyway, yeah, have I mentioned that if you take without permission or credit will get you beaten within an inch of your life?...

Sorry. heh.
