Hi there. I stumbled across your post just now. elfwreck and I are currently discussing fanzine scanning (she's mainly focused on the hows). I personally draw a distinction between scanning for personal use (disability access or a backup in case of fire) and scanning to upload or share. For the latter, permissions should be obtained.
