The Golden Age of...Wank?

It never ceases to amaze me how events from fandom past - ones that, in the overall scheme of things, are not terribly important - can be dreged up again and again years later. Years and years later. We're talking about three-five years later.

What am I talking about? This and this. Oh, and lets not forget her.

Seriously, that was truly the GOLDEN AGE OF WANK. (Or should that be the WANK THAT WILL NEVER DIE?)

No other wank in the Harry Potter fandom shall ever live up to that. (and since the Harry Potter fandom is truly going down the drain..). Never. Never ever.

I'm honestly getting warm and tingly nostalgic-like butterflies because of this all getting dredged up again. But, you may ask, what is Prenny getting all warm and tingly over something like this? Something so old and dead and crusty? Because it LIVES!

In the Draco_and_Hermione y!group, which can be found here. Raffy (bless her) has stomped it out pretty quickly but honestly, the nostalgic-like damage had already been done. It was fabulous.

Now, don't get me wrong, I have no personal investment in that little ta-do. I never personally knew any of the BNFs (who wanted to? honestly?). I will say, however, that Aja always was my favorite. Actually, she was the only one I liked at all. CC and co....I didn't like. At all. (They wrote harry potter fan fiction. They weren't gods. I don't think they ever realized that.)

Anyhow  though. This really takes me back. It does.

It's stupid and retarded. Insane and crazy. And I loved every "gut wrenching" second of it.

I'm an evil bitch like that.

I'm not deep in the HP fandom at all so I have no idea about this whole thing but... they made a whole essay about it? With an introduction and an index of players and everything?!!

*Impressed*

Oh, they did way more than that. They actually have a site called fanhistory.com ( http://www.fanhistory.com/index.php?title=Cassandra_Claire/2001) where the whole "Inner Circle/Cassandra Claire" debacle is laid out and then there is a WIKI dedicated to it.

Pretty amazing, when you think about it, that all this was generated because of fan fiction. heh.

But yeah, anyone who was in HP fandom for any length of time way back when was watching this whole thing like a tennis match because all the BNFs had the major HP lists under their control. You couldn't not find it.

It was crazy. I loved it :p

hey, I'm the person who snagged the latin books from your ysi-leftovers post. I figured there weren't a ton of people who have latin books uploaded and ready for the taking, so I decided to come look at your journal and was happy to see this post! I was not involved in the HP fandom at the time and I'm not much of a fangirl nor am I particularly involved with any, but I have many friends who are. I spent many boring days at work this past summer reading the msscribe saga, and I was so sad when it was over. I heart wank, especially HP wank. The drama just never ends and I find it so amusing. I havent read all the CC stuff yet, but my roomie has told me all about it and I'm sure one day when I'm procrasinating on homework or bored at work, I'll take a crack at it and it will humor me for days!

Anyway, this was a particularly long comment from someone you dont actually know, so I apolgize for that, especially since it's pretty pointless. I just wanted to say, I am happy I'm not the only person who gets a kick out of craaaazy wank. :)
