Is It A Wank or What?

So.

Part of me wants to say this is why I absolutely detest fandom and another part of me, a more immature larger part, wants to say this is bloody hilarious. Way, way, way hilarious. Snape in a two piece polka dot bikini hilarious (sings: "[he] wore annnnnnnnnn....itsy bitsy, tiny weeny, yellow polka dot binki, that he wore for the first time today!").

Before anyone asks what I'm talking about, I'll give the short of it: DETENTION! The Snarry Archive...

Anyhow, I detest it because...well, for the same reason why people wank it. It's so bloody stupid. Beyond stupid. And, yes, I'm sure some of you would agree that the words "fandom" and "stupid" are synonymous. I know I do.

Well, actually, the terms "Snarry" and "wank" are synonymous as well. Now. Again. (Anyone else remember the Snape Slash Fleet? Yes? No? Exactly!)

Of course, I lo-ove it for the same reason. Who doesn't want to have a bit of a wank once in a while? ...XD

Anyhow, I digress.

I'll be the first person to admit that on the whole, fadom is wanky business. We (or should that be I? You?) spend a good portion of our (my? your?) free time pouring over stories about Harry getting a...ahem, forgive me the slip...detention just so big bad, leather-loving Snape (who we all really know is hard on the outside but ever so dominantly sweet on the inside...yeah, I don't believe it either) can come in and teach that boy a lesson.

Oh! Oh! Or better.

Harry really is a badass (and not a slightly battered, manipulated young man (little boy?) who needs a spanking...er...veering off course there...ahem) and he just absolutely has to prove to Snape that he's "MORE THAN JAMES POTTER!"

Anyway, yes. My whole point is that Snarry to begin with is a little wankable (I like it that way though), so when you bring human drama into this mix...it just gets better.

Okay, okay. It probably isn't fair to just point you directly to the wanking so I'll give a little more.

The basic point o fit all: Detention got shut down....le gasp!

I didn't know about that until recently, of course, but that's all right. Not going to cry about spilled milk. Even if was a big puddle of milk. Kind of.

Because why?

Seriously guys, we need to just admit this to ourselves, it's better for our mental health.

After the whole nasty purge of ff.net, things kind of got out of hand. C&D letters starting popping up left and right and whamo! every other archive were either disappearing or password protecting themselves to the point of hassle. Not that I blame them, of course. But you see my point.

HPSAs don't last long.

The PSA, for instance. It used to be bloody HUGE. Popular as a whore's arse. But not anymore. Oh no, don't get me wrong. People still go there but can you honestly tell me that it's your favorite place anymore? That a couple years ago it wasn't better?

I can't. I know that...er...fudge, I forgot the girl's name! Savvi? Sarvvi?...the bloody PSA owner has a lot on her plate. I'm not complaining about that. I adore her (I hope it's a her...) for all the work she's done. She's amazing, I think. Dealing with wankers all the time who think their fan fiction "needs" are more important than her real life *rolls eyes, mutters "wankers"*

Anyhow. Point. The PSA had its smattering of trouble and it still has trouble. I no longer persue stories there. My own choice, of course, but moving on.

There are several other archives and "linking" stations that just have up and disappeared.

Why are we so surprised that Dentetion got deleted over a stupid fight? I'm not particularly. I wish it hadn't been, of course. I would have *loved* the chance to save the stories and links there but I didn't because we didn't hear about this bloody mess until it was at its end and it was too late to turn back time (oh god....I sound like Cher!)

Even so, don't be upset or hurt by this. Just enjoy it for what it is...
